(XML|HTML) - Special Entities / Special Characters

About

Special Entities are just a subset of the unicode characters.

The following table gives the character name as:

  • entity reference (a name)
  • decimal character reference (decimal id),
  • and hexadecimal character reference (hexadecimal id)

for markup-significant and internationalization characters

Glyphs of the characters are available at the Unicode Consortium and should be already available in every browser.

With the exception of HTML 2.0's ", &, <, and >, these entities are all new in HTML 4.0 and may not be supported by old browsers. Support in recent browsers is good.
