• Audio with AAC compression.

Can store data along the video such as:

• subtitles,
• still images

MPEG Video format is standard developed by the Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) compressed using:

• MPEG-1 used with video compact discs (VCDs)
• MPEG-2 compression (higher-quality used for DVDs)

If you'd like to back up videos in CD/DVD, you probably need MPEG format.

The m3u M3U file is a playlist file format used often to point to a stream on the Internet (ie a file splitted into multiple files)
