Business Intelligence - Competitive Intelligence

Competitive Intelligence (CI) and Business Intelligence (BI) both refers to skills, knowledge, technologies, applications, quality, risks, security issues and practices used to help a business to acquire a better understanding of the market behavior and business context.

CI is a specialised area of BI that focuses on the early identification of risks and opportunities in the market before they become obvious. CI's are tasked with reporting to senior management, keeping them informed about their competitors so as to strategically place their firm in a better position over their competitors.
